In this post I want to talk about Brandon West, a social media creator who produces content about Mandela Effects, and timeline shifts. Brandon shares his content across several platforms including YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
Recently, Brandon released a video discussing the Island of Gibraltar Mandela Effect. It appears he decided to cover the topic after watching the official trailer for The Lost Island of Gibraltar, which was shared on YouTube by Moneybags73.
In Brandon’s video titled “Did This Island Disappear or Is It a Mandela Effect?”, he explains that many people—including himself—remember Gibraltar as an island. Throughout the video, he shares clips from my official trailer and references reality residue that I have documented during my research.
Brandon’s Video
Brandon did a great job summarizing the phenomenon and presenting the idea to his audience. His video has been shared across multiple social media platforms and has already received a large number of likes and comments, with viewers discussing whether they also remember Gibraltar as an island.

A New Find: Jay-Z’s Lyrics
Toward the end of his video, Brandon also shares a find that I personally had not heard before, and it’s quite interesting.
He points to lyrics from Jay-Z in the song:
Diamonds from Sierra Leone (Remix)
In the song, Jay-Z raps:
“How could you falter when you’re the Rock of Gibraltar?
I had to get off the boat so I could walk on water.”
While these lyrics do not explicitly say Gibraltar is an island, the imagery used is intriguing. The line about getting off a boat before walking on water can subtly evoke the idea of arriving at a place surrounded by water, which aligns more closely with the concept of an island rather than a landmass directly connected to mainland Spain.
In other words, the phrasing naturally suggests approaching Gibraltar by boat, which historically would make sense if Gibraltar were understood as an island destination.
Listen to it on Spotify by simply clicking the play button below. You may also easily verify this by searching the lyrics yourself.
A Surprising Reminder
At the end of his video, Brandon also reminds viewers of something that may surprise many people who remember Gibraltar differently:
Today, you can drive directly into Gibraltar from Spain.
For those who remember Gibraltar as an island—where the only way to reach it would have been by boat or ferry—this detail can feel especially strange.
A Thank You to Brandon
I want to thank Brandon for covering the subject and for sharing his own discovery. It’s always interesting to see others explore this phenomenon and contribute new pieces to the puzzle.
Brandon did an excellent job bringing attention to the Island of Gibraltar Mandela Effect, and judging by the response across social media, the topic clearly continues to resonate with many people.
The more this subject is discussed and examined, the more perspectives—and discoveries—continue to surface.
