Robert Dakota & the Island of Gibraltar Mandela Effect: The Quest for Ancient Civilizations

As I get closer to taking the stage at SideQuest for Ancients in Austin, Texas, I recently had the opportunity to meet Robert Dakota of World ViewZ Media.

Although we had been communicating about the event, this was the first time we actually sat down together to talk about the event, my research, and the subjects I’ll be bringing to the stage in Austin.

I’ve now published our conversation on my YouTube channel, and I wanted to share it here as a way for those attending SideQuest to get to know a little more about me and the research behind my presentation.

What Is the Mandela Effect?

During our conversation, I explained what I mean when I talk about the Mandela Effect and how my research has led me to investigate specific categories of Mandela Effects.

One of those categories is geographical Mandela Effects—experiences where people remember geography differently from how it appears to exist today.

Gibraltar is one of the most important examples I’ve investigated.

I’ve spent years researching the possibility that Gibraltar may represent something much stranger than a simple memory discrepancy. Through books, newspapers, photographs, historical references, media, songs, and other examples of what I call reality residue, I’ve documented numerous pieces of information that appear to describe Gibraltar differently from the geography we recognize today.

And Gibraltar is only one part of the bigger picture.

From Geography to Human Anatomy

During the interview, I also touched on another major category of Mandela Effects: human anatomy.

Some of the most widely discussed Mandela Effects involve people’s memories of the human body itself. For me, these examples raise a much larger question:

What if the Mandela Effect isn’t limited to individual memories?

What if some of these anomalies are pointing toward something much larger about the reality we experience?

That question is what eventually led my research beyond individual Mandela Effects and toward the concept of reality residue.

What Is Reality Residue?

I use the term reality residue to describe the strange pieces of information that appear to remain within our reality even when they seem inconsistent with what we currently understand to be true.

Something that, by itself, could easily be dismissed as an error.

But what happens when these anomalies begin appearing repeatedly around the same subject?

That’s where my research takes a different direction.

I began asking whether some of these anomalies could represent fragments of something that doesn’t completely belong to the reality we’re experiencing.

Hidden Worlds and Other Versions of Earth

One of the ideas I explore in my research is the possibility that there may be hidden worlds within our own reality—other versions of Earth that exist with different geographies, histories, and circumstances.

Imagine reality as something much larger than the single version of Earth we normally perceive.

Perhaps there are other versions of our world operating under different configurations, while small pieces of information occasionally cross whatever boundary separates them from ours.

Those fragments could potentially appear as what I call reality residue.

This is one of the ideas I’ll be exploring at SideQuest for Ancients: whether geographical Mandela Effects and other anomalies can tell us something about the nature of reality itself—and how those ideas may connect to the mysteries surrounding ancient civilizations.

Why Ancient Civilizations?

This is where my research takes an unexpected turn.

When we look at ancient civilizations, we often encounter enormous structures, sophisticated artwork, unexplained technologies, unusual geographic locations, and cultures whose origins and development remain subjects of investigation and debate.

What if some of the questions surrounding these civilizations are connected to the same phenomenon?

What if the reason certain ancient sites appear so strange is because we’re not seeing the entire world in which they exist in?

That is the direction my research has led me.

And that’s what I’ll be bringing to Austin.

SideQuest for Ancients in Austin

SideQuest for Ancients takes place October 16–18, 2026 in Austin, Texas.

The event brings together researchers, authors, explorers, and other presenters exploring questions surrounding ancient civilizations, lost history, archaeology, and the mysteries of our past.

I’ll Be Taking the Stage Saturday Morning

I’ll be speaking at SideQuest on Saturday, October 17 at 11:30 AM.

My presentation will take the audience through my research into:

  • Geographical Mandela Effects
  • Reality residue
  • The lost island of Gibraltar
  • Other unusual geographical anomalies
  • Human anatomy Mandela Effects
  • Hidden worlds
  • Other versions of Earth
  • Ancient civilizations
  • And the possible connections between all of them

This conversation with Robert was a chance to give people a preview of some of these ideas before I take the stage.

If you’ve followed my work through Lost Geographic, the Island of Gibraltar research, or my investigation into reality residue, this presentation will bring many of those ideas together in a completely new way.

And if you’re discovering my work for the first time, I hope this conversation gives you a glimpse into the questions that have driven my research for years.
